Voting & registration information for the November 5, 2024 election
The last day to absentee vote for the November 5th General Election is Thursday, October 31st at 4:30 pm.
All ballots must be returned no later than 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 5th.
On Tuesday, November 5th, polls will be open from 8 am to 8 pm. Polling location is the Winthrop Town Office, All Purpose Room, 17 Highland Avenue.
Until Oct. 31st, you can:
- Vote in-person at the Town Office lobby
- Call (207) 377-7200 to have your ballot mailed to you (you may or may not receive it in time)
- Pick up an absentee ballot at the Town Office to take home

Reminder: Mainers can register to vote any time, even on election day, there is no deadline. After October 21, you must register to vote in-person. Identification and proof of residency is required. You can also register to vote electronically here: https://registertovote.sos.maine.gov

Maine residents can register to vote on Election Day. In order to register to vote, you must bring identification and something that shows a current Winthrop address. A driver's license or state identification card with the current address meets both criteria, otherwise, a checkbook or bill addressed to the applicant at the current address along with a social security card, birth certificate, or hunting/fishing license.
If you mail in your voter registration card, you must send proof of identity such as a photocopy of your driver's license or other photo ID or a utility bill with your name and address on it.
There is no cut-off date for registering to vote in person. If you want to register to vote by mail or through a voter registration drive, the cut-off date is the close of business on the 21st day before the election. Register to vote electronically here.
Where Do I Vote?
All residents of Winthrop absentee vote at the Town Office, 17 Highland Avenue. Polling station for elections is the All Purpose Room at the Town Office, 17 Highland Avenue from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
How do I get an Absentee Ballot?
Ballots can be picked up, requested online here or mailed to you by calling the clerk's office at (207) 377-7200. You may also absentee vote in person at the Town Office lobby. Absentee ballots are available approximately 30 days prior to Election Day. For more information, please contact the Town Office.
